Stephen & Stephanie’s Classic Blairgowrie Wedding at Blairgowrie Parish Church and McArthur Manor
Stephen and Stephanie’s wedding was a beautifully balanced celebration rooted in tradition and relaxed countryside elegance. With a heartfelt church ceremony in the centre of Blairgowrie followed by a warm and welcoming reception at McArthur Manor, their day felt personal, timeless, and thoughtfully paced.
“Simon was such an amazing photographer to capture our big day. He managed with ease trying to orchestrate a large wedding party including children and animals and the pictures are just great. He is super friendly and relaxed which is welcome on such a big day with a lot of moving parts and even stayed later to capture the start of the dancing as we were running behind in terms of timings on the day. He was also super quick in sharing the final edited pictures and was just a pleasure to work with from scoping out the images we wanted vs capturing elements we didn’t see ourselves on the day. I really couldn’t recommend him enough.” Stephanie Holt
A Traditional Ceremony at Blairgowrie Parish Church
The day began at Blairgowrie Parish Church, where Stephen and Stephanie were married in front of family and friends in a setting rich with history and meaning. The church’s traditional architecture and soft natural light created a calm, reverent atmosphere, allowing the focus to remain firmly on the ceremony itself.
Moments of quiet anticipation, shared glances, and the emotion of exchanging vows unfolded naturally, making the ceremony particularly well suited to documentary-style wedding photography. The sense of community and familiarity within the church added depth to the story of the day.
A Warm Reception at McArthur Manor, Blairgowrie
Following the ceremony, celebrations continued at McArthur Manor, a venue known for its relaxed atmosphere and connection to the surrounding Perthshire countryside. The transition from church to reception felt seamless, giving guests time to settle into the day and enjoy the setting.
McArthur Manor’s welcoming interiors and outdoor spaces provided a comfortable backdrop for both candid moments and relaxed portraits. The pace of the afternoon allowed Stephen and Stephanie to spend meaningful time with their guests, while also stepping away briefly to enjoy quieter moments together.
Light, Landscape, and Atmosphere
The Blairgowrie setting played an important role throughout the day. Soft Scottish light (and rain) and the rural surroundings added warmth and texture to the photographs, enhancing the natural flow of events rather than drawing attention away from them. These elements helped create images that feel honest, timeless, and true to the experience.
A Wedding Built on Tradition and Connection
What stood out most about Stephen and Stephanie’s wedding was its sense of ease. By combining a traditional church ceremony with a relaxed local reception venue, they created a day that felt grounded and authentic, allowing moments to unfold without pressure or distraction.
Their wedding is a wonderful example of how a thoughtfully planned day in Blairgowrie can be both elegant and personal—perfect for couples looking to blend tradition with a warm, understated celebration in Perthshire.
